Working with Fisheries Biologist Nate Dachtler from Deschutes National Forest, we need support to enhance the habitat for bull trout, redband trout, and other native species in the Metolius Basin. Recent wood placement work needs additional planting to enhance the cover and structure of the features. We are looking for volunteers to rake, spread grass seed, and plant riparian species around the wood. In addition, we will learn more about the habitat project and how it is impacting spawning and rearing conditions for native fish. As a bonus to this day, we will be joined by Jeff Perin from the Fly Fisher’s Place in Sisters, who will share equipment tips and advice on reading the water and habitat features. Contact Darek if you are interested. We will be meeting at the Sister’s Ranger Station at 8:30am and carpool to the site on the river.
